Title in french : Palais du Pharo

Type : monument

City : Marseille

Napoleon III wanted to please his wife. Because she could not decently go to the docks reserved for men, the emperor decided to build her a palace from where she could observe the teeming port activity.

He even decided to cut Fort Saint Nicolas in half to build an avenue leading directly to the palace.
And in spite of all these efforts, she never came, even once!

Today the palace belongs to the city of Marseilles and is a place for conferences and events. You can have access to the park and visit the hall of the main building.

The best thing remains the view over the old port, the Fort Saint- Jean and the MUCEM.
Very pleasant in summer, the lawn welcomes families and lovers in search of sweetness.

You can also enjoy the restaurant Le Chalet to taste grilled meat and fish while admiring the sunset. The place is also very popular on fireworks nights.
